Can I make a confession?
I’m not the *biggest* fan of magazines like Lucky and InStyle.
Sure, I’ll snatch them up as quickly as any other girl when the mailman drops them off …. but I don’t spend time pining after the next issue…..and I don’t make an emergency trip to Borders to pick up the latest as soon as it hits the stand.
It’s one little publication to which my heart truly belongs…..Vogue. Any Vogue will do, British Vogue, French Vogue, American Vogue….
See…I like a little substance with my fashion. And while there’s certainly no harm in gazing at page after page of divine layout, I enjoy the articles that accompany the fashion in Vogue. There’s more to this magazine than just reviews of the best styling products (although I’ll certainly take those opinions into consideration when I’m after my next deep conditioner).
My very favorite part of this magazine, though?
The columns about well dressed socialites, business executives, artists, the buzzed-about up and coming….
The fashion silhouettes that inspire me the most? Plum Sykes, India Hicks, Carine Roitfeld….
I think it’s why I count The Sartorialist as one of my favorite must-reads…. I love seeing the latest styles off the runway, off the red carpet, and on the streets(often with a spunky twist). At cocktail parties, in the library of an NYC loft, at a posh soiree, attending a designer’s private showing in Milan…
Don’t be surprised if you start seeing some socialite images cropping up amongst the celebrity fashion crush postings that this Glancing Girl is plotting for upcoming weekly features….
