I've been searching for good shots of Halle's new pixie crop since she made the change.

I love this girl in a short cut.

Mental note: skinny pants and heels are always sexy. Especially black leather skinny pants.

The denim she's wearing in this shot are so old-school and I love them! Plus, the cardigan is super-yummy. Both of these items are on my Fall Wardrobe list.

Don't you get tired of too much matchy-matchy?

I certainly do.

I love an unexpected mix of patterns and colors.

This ensemble totally works.

Why?

Because neither pattern is too busy - and the colors are all shades that naturally go together. Think about a stormy landscape - the darkening sky, violet clouds, a grassy knoll in the background.

If the colors occur together in nature - you can totally pair them with each other in an ensemble!

Get out there and put together some surprising combinations, ladies!

While I've enjoyed oohing and ahhing over the classic glamour ladies of Hollywood-past, I have to admit that there are some Hollywood-present foxes whose style I really, really adore.

Zooey Deschanel is a fantastic example. She's cute and quirky, ladylike and a little elegant.

And she can definitely channel something from a more classic era.
