Sustainable Gifting

Glancing Girl here …

I’m working on my Christmas list … the gift-giving part of it, I mean.

We draw names in my family, which means I have 2 siblings to think about, my parents, an assorted number of friends, and then people I just like remembering during the holidays … my barista, the mail person, my hair dresser, etc.

For the last several years, I’ve made it my priority to gift sustainably.

Meaning: when I can I give resale. I keep my eyes open all year for fabulous boots in the right size for my sister, I give my mom a gift certificate for her favorite resale shop … when I can’t support the resale industry, I support fair trade, locally-owned small businesses, etc.

And when all else fails, I make gifts! This comes in especially handy for individuals like the mailman who I don’t know very well. I’m not at all crafty, so when I say I make gifts, I mean I put edible items together in some kind of cute presentation.

This s’mores idea is right up my alley:

Easy, inexpensive, and fast. I love it!

I encourage you to join me in gifting sustainably this year – gift certificates to Second Glance & The Annex are a great option for local family and friends. I’ve already purchased a few for people on my own list.

And if you need assistance shopping for someone in particular, remember that the Glancing Girls are always happy to help you find the perfect match!

Holiday Gift Guide

Glancing Girl here …

Whoorl at Hair Thursday {which is a great resource for styling tips – if you’re not reading it, you should be} posted Daily Makeover’s holiday gift guide, and boy, is it a doozy.

The images are Whoorl’s personal picks from the list, but you really must look through all 100 items to choose your own favorites.

As a product junkie, I have to admit this gift guide is pure bliss.
